This book came out a number of years ago. It is one of those books that I return to for personal and professional reasons. It is a heartfelt, heart-wrenching, and intriguing book. This memoir by David Sheff is a book all adults that know someone or knows someone that knows someone with an addiction should read. It gives the reader as close to a true experience of what it is like to feel so helpless when trying so hard to help your son or daughter suffering with a drug addiction. There are so many misconceptions and blame-games that people feel pulled into when someone they love is an addict. This book really will help you develop empathy and a more accurate understanding of what addiction is like for the addict and their parents. The book also offer's resources for addicts and their families.
